About:
Minna Ellis (born 2000, London) is a multi-disciplinary artist and performer who makes work about the natural world and the human impact on it through performance, video, drawing and painting. They explore their own physical and tangible interactions with natural and urban environments. With an overarching interest in the Sublime, Ellis intrinsically looks at the small pockets of the world around them that can be fascinating, beautiful and frightening as a means to create performative and playful artworks. Their performances question gender and body movement in relation to the environments around them. In their drawing practice, the artist creates highly detailed pen drawings that are inspired by maps and contour lines, but are semi-abstract in their form. Across a broad range of media, Ellis’s practice fundamentally stems from the link between nature and the body.
